When
Grandpa Munster cruises around in the Dragula he listens
to "The Phantom Creeps." Why wouldn't he? They are the
creepiest most terror-ific garage band around! Combining
clean Fender reverb tones with grinding fuzz, The Phantom
Creeps churn out some of the most horrific music... that
doesn't take its self too seriously.
The
Phantom Creeps came to be when John Kozik (Anal Cunt,
Toe Tag, STP) and Gein (Gein and the Graverobbers) decided
to combine forces and create a horror garage band like
no other. The influences range from The Cramps and Deadbolt
to The Ghastly Ones. The Phantom Creeps self-titled debut
CD features several instrumentals as well as some vocal
stylings that you can bet you've not heard the likes of
before. There are some strait ahead surf songs like "A
Taste of Fear" as well as some fuzzed out stomps like
"Creeping Jesus" and let's not forget soon to be sing
along classic - "Beach Blanket Bloodbath."
When the Phantom Creeps hit the stage in there matching
outfits and slick choreography, you feel like you're watching
something from The Ed Sullvian show...but when these ghouls
start playing it'll feel more like "Mad Monster Party."
So give the 'Creeps new album a listen, if you dare, but
don't say I didn't warn you!
